A Clinical Study on Children with Idiopathic Epilepsy.

Abstract
Clinical study has teen conducted on 80 Children with idiopathic epilepsy, who have been followed up in Pediatric convulsion clinic of Kyungpook University hospital from January 1977 to August 1978.
Grand mal epilepsy was the most common type of seizures, comprising 57.5%, followed by focal 10%, petit mal 5%, myoclonic & akinetic 5%, Psychomotor 2.5% and infantile spasm 1.3%.
The most prevalent age group was 6-10 years of age.
Abnormal EEG finding was noticed in 57 out of 74 patients (77%), with highest rate in "3-6 years of age" (56%) and lowest in "below 3 years of age" (56%).
Female showed slightly higher rate of EEG abnormality (83.9%) compared to male (72.1%).
In 60% of cases, seizure occured as once a day to twice a year rate, and in 56% it lasted from one to fifteen minutes.
All the other laboratory date, including P-W skin test, BUN, creatinine, Ca, P, blood sugar & skull X-ray was found to be normal.
Past history of febrile seiure was seen in 47.4% and family history of febrile seizure, epilepsy & mental retardation in 48.8% of patients.
